stationery
Once the logo is designed, I then create any stationery that may be required: letterheads, businesscards, envelopes, presentation folders, receipt books etc. I can also create a unique personalised signature that appears at the base of your emails.
Businesscards needn’t be boring. These days most cards are double sided with the company logo and theme on the front and your details on the back. I often design cards that are not as deep as the standard card – they stand out and have a sleek appearance in comparison. They still fit in your wallet, but stand out from the crowd. I can also include wet finishes (UV gloss varnish) to help elements to really stand out, gold or silver foiling for a really shiny finish, or metallic inks that glint beautifully and add a feeling of prestige to the card. If you have a lot of text to fit on the card or want to include some product shots, I can create a fold out card for you…it’s still the same size as a normal card when folded, but with twice the space. Another fun idea is to use a specialised die cut. This looks especially good on fold out cards. Perhaps a fun design that includes a hole punch could double up as a shopping tag to hang off your products.
Letterheads need to be able to go through the everyday office printer without the ink bleeding or sliding off, so spot (single solid colours) or CMYK (four colour printing) are generally used as a metallic ink or foil could melt in your printer and make a nasty mess. There are various paper options to choose from, but with standard matt paper the colours will be duller than on your businesscard as the ink is absorbed into the paper, versus a glossy matt card where the ink sits on the surface. If you decide to go with a coloured paper, be aware that this will tint any colouring…for example, if you print on a cream paper, the white becomes the cream and any colours gain a slight yellow tint. Recycled paper is a great idea, but again, it’s usually slightly rough and not pure white so don’t expect a crisp finish. These also cost a lot more than standard bond papers.
If a client is just starting up and has a limited budget, another option for a letterhead is to create one as a Word template that can be printed off at their leisure. Occasionally I create the stationery in conjunction with the logo so I can see which design works best in context, deciding on colour schemes and text style once I see it in the complete setting…it just depends on the job!
I can also provide you with correctly sized logos that you can include in Excel spreadsheets or for invoices you create in Word.
Printing costs needn’t break the bank either. I’m happy to work with your existing printer, but can also offer you some excellent deals through CJ King Printers in Balcatta and Worldwide Nedlands.
