My latest web design has been for meat distributors, O’Reilly’s Lot, in Balcatta WA. O’Reilly’s needed to update their old site’s look and feel. The original site was created in Joomla, a very bland look and feel, and had only three basic pages and downloadable order forms…so a bit of a dinosaur!

With the new site, they wanted to be able to easily change pricing, add monthly specials, and update recipes seasonally, so a WordPress website was perfect for them and their budget. Their website is now up and operational, with a few more sections to add after the Easter break.

I converted their previous print and fax ordering method to a full online ordering system. As each item varies due to weight and price is dependent on the market, a pay online system wasn’t suitable.

Instead, once O’Reilly’s receive the online order via their email, the price is confirmed and sent back to the customer. Once it’s paid by either direct debit or credit card, the order is delivered.

For first time credit card customers, O’Reilly’s contact the customer by phone to gain their details. If the order is from a regular customer and O’Reilly’s have been given permission to retain their credit card details, their credit card is manually debited.

This is a very cost effective form of instant online ordering, but without the costly inclusion of payment gateways.

Throughout the site I’ve included small “ad banners” to promote the various buy online options, as well as including graphical and text links to their business partner, Dandaragan Organic Beef, (a static website, also designed by myself), and a google map.
